Shell International Petroleum Company Limited (referred to on this learning portal as "Shell" "we", "us" or "our") is a company registered in England and Wales under company number 00621148, VAT registration number GB 235 763 255 (000), and registered office at Shell Centre, York Road, London SE1 7NA, and controls the personal data collected on the learning portal.
Information Collection and Use
We will collect personal information including your name, email address, role, company, employer and location in order to:
- set up user accounts for you in the learning portal;
- offer you training courses within the learning portal;
- provide your training results to you, your employer and/or individuals within the Shell Group of companies who are from time to time designated as training managers;
- respond to queries or requests submitted by you; and
- administer or otherwise carry out our obligations in relation to any agreement you or your employer has with Shell.
Personal data is handled and protected in accordance with applicable data protection laws and relevant Shell policies and rules.
If at any time you wish us to stop using your information for any or all of the above purposes, please contact us as set out below. Upon receipt of such a request, we will stop the use of your information for such purposes as soon as it is reasonably possible to do so.
Data Controller
Shell International Petroleum Company Limited is the data controller for the purpose of the Data Protection Act 1998.
Other Jurisdictions and Third Parties
Except as set out in this Privacy Policy, we will not disclose any personal information to any third party without your permission unless we are legally entitled or required to do so (for example, if required to do so by legal process or for the purposes of prevention of fraud or other crime), or if we believe that such action is necessary to protect and/or defend our rights, property or personal safety and those of our users/customers, etc.
Shell will ensure that your personal data is protected in accordance with the applicable data protection legislation and the Shell Group Data Privacy Manual. Data may be transferred to countries outside of the European Economic Area (EEA). By way of example, this may happen if any of our servers are from time to time located in a country outside of the EEA or one of our service providers is located in a country outside of the EEA. These countries may not have similar data protection laws to the EEA. If we transfer your information outside of the EEA in this way, we will take steps to ensure that your privacy rights continue to be protected. Shell uses a company called NIIT Limited to provide certain aspects of the learning portal services which is acting as a data processor on behalf of Shell. NIIT Limited is a company registered in India, with its registered address at 8, Balaji Estate, Sudarshan Munjal Marg, Kalkaji, New Delhi – 110019. Data provided to NIIT will be processed in the USA. Shell will ensure that your personal data remains protected in accordance with applicable data protection legislation and relevant Shell policies and rules, when it is transferred to NIIT Limited and/or to any other third parties as may be appropriate.

Please note that the learning portal uses cookies. Cookies are small text files which are stored on your computer by a website and which distinguish you from other users. Retention
For the purposes described above, your personal data will be retained within the learning portal by Shell as long as you continue to access the system. If you do not access the learning portal for a period of one year, then your user account will be automatically deactivated in the system, and your personal data will be deleted. Objections to the retention of personal data can be sent to contact persons mentioned at the end of this document.
